UK Singer songwriter Eamonn
Mallon includes a song called "The Jackboot" on his
first solo venture, the
album 'Gunslinger'
The Jackboot is about civil
liberty issues surrounding the introduction of smoking
bans. The song is rapidly becoming an Anthem for those
fighting for Freedom Of Choice on this issue.
Eamonn feels strongly on
the issue and this is what he has to say
: |
Many modern politicians and the
fanatically, obsessed health lobbies are a complete anathema
to the natural forces and passions in this world. They are
unfortunately leading us all into ‘police state’ territory.
With an onslaught of misinformation, and an astonishing
eagerness to impose a particular philosophy of life, by
force, they are breeding an intolerance in society, which is
both outrageous and dangerous.
Clamping down more and more on peoples’ freedoms, and
attempting to iron out our differences, which make living
interesting, takes the spark out of all our lives, and that
is criminal and unforgivable. It seems they have no idea
what damage they’re doing, what damage they’re capable of
doing to the human spirit. This goes far beyond the smoking
issue.
With freedom comes responsibility and compromise. Compromise
not heavy-handed authoritarianism. Freedom will always be
abused, but that is the price that must be paid for ‘such a
beautiful state’. The alternative is a dark chasm devoid of
creativity and free expression, overrun by divisive,
dictatorial thinking, hell bent on control, regardless of
the misery it induces.
The ‘joke science’ behind the ‘passive smoking’ claims is so
laughable, the perpetrators should be doing ‘stand-up’, but
it’s not funny anymore, it’s serious. The hysterical
anti-smoking charlatans, and their ’drug company’ masters,
consist of a very small minority, who have gained increasing
power, of frightening proportions, in the political arena,
and who have turned barefaced lying into an art form. They
will say “it’s for your own good“, well, who knows, we may
live a little longer in shackles, although doubtful, but to
live and die a free man, is a gift most precious, which
should never be forgotten.
A cultural change by force of law, is an ugly slur on the
principles of democracy. It is certainly a fascist ideal
that should never be allowed to flourish in Britain. It will
be a very sad day if it does.

Lyrics
The Jackboot
I hear the jackboot is coming
down that road again,
I hear the jackboot is coming down that road
again,
To take away my liberty, ‘cause they know what’s
good for me,
And tread on the names of those that fought the
jackboot.
I hear the
jackboot coming down that road again,
Smooth talking, suited , with lots of friends,
On a mission to homogenize and sterilise all
dissent,
And spit on the names of those that fought the
jackboot.
Well,
there’s a plan to make us all the same,
Same food , same size, I just feel distain,
Have a drink, but have a smoke out in the rain,
out in the cold,
Where are the bold, that fought the jackboot.
The little
dull, grey, dreary men have seen,
They can make it real their obsessive dream,
Control your every move until you scream,
And spit on the names of those that fought the
jackboot.
……if there’s
any justice in this land, do you understand,
We won’t see no more of this jackboot.
The very
souls that gave all they had to win,
Are being treated like the enemy within, strip
them of their dignity,
To raise their voice you make it a sin,
And these are the ones that fought the jackboot.
I wanna be
there on the day you fall,
I wanna see your face when you lose the ball,
A law-abiding man will find it hard just doing
what he can,
Without breaking the law, against this jackboot,
I don’t want to see no more of your jackboot.
